Capture point coordinates

Start the Capture Canadian coordinates application

Instructions

This application allows queries against the Canadian Geographical Names Data Base (CGNDB) which contains some 500 000 records, over two-thirds of which are currently official names, as approved by the Canadian Permanent Committee on Geographical Names (CPCGN). You can choose a location and the map view will be adjusted to better view the selected location. Click the question mark icon (?), the cursor changes to a crosshair and when you click on a location a popup window provides the point coordinates in decimal degrees.

Hints

It is best to have a set of road maps available for the area that you are interested in. The coordinates that appear in the popup window can be cut and pasted into any other application. Please close the popup window each time.
